Yes. VeriClick only runs on pages that load after the extension is installed. Refresh any tabs that were already open — one reload is enough. On Mac press ⌘R (or choose View → Reload). On Windows or Linux press Ctrl+R (or F5). New tabs work automatically.

Yes. VeriClick checks individual links you hover over or choose to inspect — it does not read passwords, card numbers, or form fields on banking pages. Chrome shows a permissions notice because the extension can see page content to find links; we do not sell browsing data or build advertising profiles. See our Privacy Policy for details.

Search engines often wrap links (for example google.com/url?…). VeriClick unwraps those wrappers instantly on your device and scores the real destination — the site you intend to open — not the search engine redirect.

Hovering shows an instant trust score beside your cursor. Right-click any link and choose Check link with VeriClick for a deeper breakdown with more detail. On the Free plan you get 100 hover checks and 5 enhanced (right-click) checks per day.

Right-click the link you want to inspect, then choose Check link with VeriClick in the menu. A detailed panel opens with the score, warning signs, and what to do next. This uses one of your daily enhanced checks on the Free plan.

VeriClick compares sites against a popularity database (Tranco). Smaller, regional, or newer sites may not appear there yet. That note is informational — not a sign the link is dangerous. A high trust score still means VeriClick did not find serious warning signs.

Some scam links use very long web addresses to hide the real destination or bury suspicious parts. A long link on its own is usually a minor note — VeriClick shows it so you can double-check where you're going before you click.

Scammers sometimes use encoded characters (%20, %2F, and similar) to make a link look confusing or to disguise the true destination. VeriClick flags this when the address is harder to read at a glance.

Redirect links send you through an intermediate page before the final site. That pattern is common in marketing emails and search results, but it is also used in phishing. VeriClick notes it so you can confirm the final destination.

Hyphens, odd spellings, or unfamiliar domain endings (.xyz, .top, etc.) can appear on legitimate sites, but they are also common on scam pages. VeriClick flags them as a prompt to verify you are on the site you expect.

HTTPS encrypts data between your browser and the website. Login, payment, or personal details sent over plain HTTP can be intercepted. VeriClick warns when a link does not use HTTPS, especially on sensitive pages.

Links that use numbers instead of a normal website name (for example http://192.168.1.1) are sometimes used to hide where a link really goes. Verify the destination carefully before clicking.

Phishing sites often mimic well-known brands using lookalike domains (paypa1.com instead of paypal.com, for example). VeriClick compares the link to the brand context on the page and flags likely mismatches.

Fake login and checkout pages are a common phishing tactic. VeriClick is extra cautious when a link appears to lead to account verification, password reset, or payment — especially if the domain does not match what you would expect.

Scam emails often pressure you to act immediately — account suspended, payment failed, final notice. Urgent language alone does not mean a link is malicious, but combined with other signals it increases risk.

VeriClick evaluates dozens of signals including domain age, redirect chains, known phishing databases, URL structure patterns, and contextual clues from the page you're on. It combines these into a single 0–100 trust score with a plain-English explanation.

Scores run from 0 to 100. 90–100 is Safe, 75–89 is Likely Safe, 55–74 is Caution, and below 55 is Risky. Each score comes with a short explanation so you understand exactly why a link was flagged.

VeriClick analyses signals that sometimes appear on legitimate sites — especially newer domains or sites with unusual registration patterns. You can always choose to proceed through any warning. To provide the service we process URLs you hover over or right-click, limited link context (such as link text and page title) to improve scoring, your account email and plan tier, and anonymous usage counts. On Premium plans only, we also process sender address, subject, and a short body preview from the email you are viewing to detect likely scam emails. We do not sell this data.
