About VeriClick

What is VeriClick?+

VeriClick is a Chrome extension that checks links in real time and shows you an instant trust score when you hover over any link. It flags phishing, scams, and fake sites before you ever click — in under 1 second.

Who built VeriClick?+

VeriClick is operated by VeriClick Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (Company No. 16554016), with a team based in New Zealand and the UK. We built VeriClick because phishing scams cost everyday people billions every year — and existing tools are either built for security experts or simply don't exist for normal users. Our mission: the simplest, clearest scam protection for everyone.

What browsers does VeriClick support?+

VeriClick is a Google Chrome extension, available on the Chrome Web Store. Install it in Chrome to check links on any website you visit.

Can I install VeriClick for someone else?+

Yes — and it's one of the most common reasons people install it. If you have someone in your life who you worry about clicking the wrong link, you can install VeriClick on their Chrome browser in under two minutes. No account is required to start, and the Free plan gives them 50 link checks a day at no cost. Just visit vericlick.io/download on their device, or send them the link to open themselves.

Does VeriClick work on all websites?+

Yes — VeriClick checks links across your entire browser including Google search results, Gmail, social media, news sites, and shopping platforms.

How It Works

How does VeriClick score a link?+

VeriClick evaluates dozens of signals including domain age, redirect chains, known phishing databases, URL structure patterns, and contextual clues from the page you're on. It combines these into a single 0–100 trust score with a plain-English explanation.

What does the trust score mean?+

Scores run from 0 to 100. 90–100 is Safe, 75–89 is Likely Safe, 55–74 is Caution, and below 55 is Risky. Each score comes with a short explanation so you understand exactly why a link was flagged.

Why did VeriClick warn me about a link I know is safe?+

VeriClick analyses signals that sometimes appear on legitimate sites — especially newer domains or sites with unusual registration patterns. You can always choose to proceed through any warning. If you believe a site is incorrectly flagged, please let us know via the feedback button in the extension.

Can I continue to a flagged site anyway?+

Yes. VeriClick is advisory — it warns you first, but you always have the final say. Click 'Visit anyway' on any warning to proceed.

What does the risk slider in Settings do?+

On Premium plans, it lets you set how cautious VeriClick should be before triggering a warning or block. Move it lower to block more aggressively; move it higher to only warn on very high-risk links. Free plans use a fixed default threshold.

Does VeriClick check emails for scams?+

VeriClick always scores links inside emails when you hover over them (Free and Premium). Premium also adds sender-level email scam warnings in supported webmail such as Gmail and Outlook — flagging suspicious senders before you click anything.

Does VeriClick guarantee I won't get scammed?+

No tool can catch every threat. VeriClick is designed to dramatically reduce your risk and catch the vast majority of scam and phishing links — but it's one layer of protection, not a guarantee.

Privacy & Data

Does VeriClick store my browsing history?+

No. VeriClick does not store a log of which websites you visit. URLs are sent to our servers to be scored, but we do not build browsing profiles or share your data with third parties for advertising.

Is my browsing data sold?+

Never. We do not sell, share, or trade your data to any third party. See our Privacy Policy for full details.

What data does VeriClick collect?+

To provide the service we process URLs you hover over or right-click, limited link context (such as link text and page title) to improve scoring, your account email and plan tier, and anonymous usage counts. On Premium plans only, we also process sender address, subject, and a short body preview from the email you are viewing to detect likely scam emails. We do not sell this data.

Is VeriClick GDPR compliant?+

Yes. VeriClick is operated by a UK-registered company and processes data in accordance with UK GDPR. You can request deletion of your account data at any time by emailing support@vericlick.io.
